SKYBOAT w/ Byard Lancaster
last night the Tritone’s feeble PA system got in the
way of what could of been a stellar evening…as it was…it resembled more an unstable atom…musical chaos at times coming together for moments of beauty and then collapsing again. this is not necessarily a bad thing…not what one would have wanted, but what a frustratingly peculiar feeling battling an antequated soundsystem and trying to enjoy a performance with such luminaries of this philly improv/electronic/jazz scene as john shenk, mark boyce, barry meehan, byard lancaster, harold smith, elliot levin, j davidson,…et al….
right people, wrong location, wrong PA….after playing on so many wonderful soundsystems around the planet, it pains me to no end how clubowners presenting music still don’t get it…
hey guys! get a new system. great for business, the audience. and the performers….my rant ended. that’s how we felt on stage…might not have been as bad as that……cause the energy itself was good…..
anyway, a festival of noise and some beauty…thanks for coming out…thanks to craig for recording, and to daniella for film+fotogs….
