from 1k Sessions episode 12
Broadcast live on Sunday, September 18, 2011, 1k Sessions, Episode 12 features poet Ursula Rucker and Tim Motzer (guitars). The world renown Ursula Rucker, now with five solo albums (Supa Sista, Silver or Lead, Ma’at Mama, Ruckus Soundsysdom, She Said) has worked with The Roots, Jazzanova, 4 Hero, Silent Poets, Incognito, and Jon Hassell among many others. Most notably, Rucker graced The Roots first 3 albums including Do You Want More, and Things Fall Apart.
For the past 14 years, Rucker and Motzer have developed a special chemistry touring abroad and performing at the worlds most prestigious festivals such as Punkt (N), Denau (AU), The Big Chill (UK), Montreux Jazz (CH), and Montreal Jazz (CAN). This very special episode uses Ursula’s poetry from her journals as projected backdrops to the performance and world premieres of her poems and short stories for New Orleans, and more. Essential.
