after a nice refreshing shower, feeling a little more human today. we drive to rome with johnny driving. the drive is gorgeous. slept for quite awhile to ipod music…stopped at an autogrill for lunch (steak, pasta, salad, red wine)…i wish it was like this in the usa…no such luck…final leg of trip chasing a beautiful sunset surrounded by breathtaking mountain ranges…a 5 hour journey into rome.  roma: dropped at hotel. check in. 1 hour to lay on the bed. tiny room. even tinier bathroom. good luck fitting in the shower. haha…go to la palma to soundcheck. gintas drums are in bad shape…needs heads for snares and hardware…soundcheck is VERY LONG and wearing…to dinner…with VERY LOUD BAD POP music…so loud…we ask for them to turn it down…very disturbing…dinner was good (ravioli,salad, red wine)…show was recorded for rai radio for an april broadcast…great audience…our best show ever in rome…we played well but on stage sound was flat…a disconnect for us on stage…but we had the audience…ursula killed it!  a couple of issues on some songs – a misque on punkass bitch, and broken…otherwise, show good. audience loved it. one encore: supa sista.  afterwards hung with trumpeter corey from art ensemble of chicago touring here…drink mohitos, emails in office, and later enjoyed playing la palmas yamaha grand piano after dj finished his set as a wind down. back at hotel, fell asleep in my clothes with lights and tv on until 5am – off to roma airport with marco at 1130 to fly to catania, sicily….
