it’s been a considerable time since the last writings. mucho has been going on. tremendous craziness musically and otherwise.

in the states, we’re doing a massive radio/satelite/cable campaign to get the record out there and heard, so keep your ears open for nucultures…
next up the nucultures remix project is moving forward. i’ve been asking remixers/producers/friends from around the world for their take on the album, so this will be slowly evolving into what i hope will be a beautiful experimental retake on the record. more news on remixers on board soon.
in the studio: grimace federation has been living in the nautica studio for the last 3 weeks laying down 8 tracks even with yours truly getting in on some guitar playing here and there.

on the road:
this summer has been fun in the clubs. i’ve resurrected base3 for some jazz/improv/r&d excitements…played to an enthusiastic crowd at steel city phoenixville a few weeks back with ian vos and jeremy carlstedt, and again this past weekend in doylestown with jon wood substituting for jeremy…nice to keep the fingers limber and playing with the boys! next up
is sister gertrude live in central park summerstage july 28th…a week of rehearsals coming…following that (hopefully) will be flying to tel aviv in early august with ursula rucker to perform two shows there August 9th and 10th. upon returning, flying to cologne, germany to record with jaki liebezeit (can) and burnt friedman (flanger, nonplace) for their next album. be there for 10 days with a festival appearance. our first playing live together at jazzsaalfelden festival in austria. should be an amazing festival. will be playing with david torn’s prezens as well as many other incredible artists. i’m very excited about this. upon returning to the states, i’m jetting again overseas to paris to play a festival with parisian saxophone legend julien lourau and electronic producer jeff sharel at the la villette jazz festival.  sonic youth, wayne shorter, steve coleman are a few of the other artists on the fest. should be insane.
recording: somewhere amongst all this illness, i’m working away on new songs for next records, rehearsing nucultures for live shows, and the new power trio with barry meehan and jeremy carlstedt…tentatively called ‘fuzzbase’…we’ll be debuting the band and new songs at the Northern Liberties Festival on September 8th with a set a 8pm. we’re looking forward to playing….that’s all for now…run out a grab the nucultures album soon!!!!!!
